Manufacturing Support
Having worked in the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS)
business we understand what needs to be considered during the design
and transfer of a product to volume manufacture.
Ideally we would seek to engage manufacturing at an early stage in the development process to ensure that all needs are understood and met, through:
- maximizing our usage of Design for Manufacture and Assembly
(DfMA) methodologies to minimize part assembly times/costs.
- identification of the most appropriate manufacturing
processes and tooling for the planned manufacturing volumes.
- giving consideration to existing preferred parts and
customer Approved Vendor Lists (AVL). In the absence of an AVL we can
recommend suitable suppliers.
- communicating with suppliers to ensure that our designs do
not demand tolerances that are unnecessarily difficult / expensive to
achieve
- structuring our product coding and documentation to suit
assembly requirements and sequencing.
- assisting with the identification, qualification and
transfer to off-shore suppliers if appropriate.
During the New Product Introduction (NPI) process we can
assist with resolving supplier quality issues and support production
line staff.
